Richard B. Hoey

Senior Economic Advisor, BNY Mellon Wealth Management

 

Mr. Hoey is responsible for monitoring all aspects of the economic environment at BNY Mellon Wealth Management including the global economy, the U.S. economy and the financial markets.  He is a member of the Investment Strategy Committee and works closely with investment teams across the firm.

 

Mr. Hoey has been an investment professional for over five decades, acting as a chief economist, equity portfolio manager, investment strategist and director of equity research.  He has been chief economist of a number of financial firms, including BNY Mellon, Mellon Financial, Dreyfus, Drexel Burnham Lambert, Prudential-Bache and Warburg Paribas Becker.  He has been a member of both the investment policy and stock selection committees at many firms.  Mr. Hoey has been associated with BNY Mellon and its predecessor firms since 1991.  

 

He has twice been an equity portfolio manager.  Early in his career on Wall Street, Mr. Hoey was co-owner and portfolio manager at an investment counsel firm which managed balanced accounts.  At Dreyfus in the 1990s, he started and was sole portfolio manager of three equity mutual funds which grew to an aggregate size of over $2 billion.
