As President and Chief Executive Officer since September 2014, Tom Joyce leads Danaher’s strategic vision and global portfolio growth. Since then, with the help of the Danaher team, his strategic perspective has strengthened Danaher’s focus as a leading science and technology company
through the acquisition of Pall Corporation, a number of other key acquisitions, and the launch of Fortive Corporation, a new, independent, publicly traded company. An equally dedicated people leader, Tom has also spearheaded far-reaching efforts to align the company and culture around a shared purpose, and to build a deeply engaged workforce at all levels.
Tom brings more than 25 years of deep and diverse Danaher leadership experience to his role. He most recently served as Executive Vice President, with responsibility for the Water Quality platform and Life Sciences & Diagnostics segments. In these roles he increased Danaher’s Water Quality revenue by more than $1.5 billion and led the acquisitions of Beckman Coulter and SCIEX.
Tom began his Danaher career in 1989 as a Project Manager in the Danaher Tool Group, later transitioning into a manufacturing role. In 1995, he became President of Delta Consolidated Industries and then President of Hach in 2001. He was promoted to Group Executive and Corporate Officer in 2002 and Executive Vice President in 2006. Throughout his tenure, Tom has played a key role in developing and evolving the Danaher Business System.
We’ve always believed that the best team wins. But we’ve learned that the best team is also the most engaged team. The best, most engaged team is deeply committed to its organization’s purpose, its reason for being.”
Before joining Danaher, Tom was a management consultant at Andersen Consulting. He earned a B.S. in Economics from the College of the Holy Cross, where he now sits on the Board of Trustees. He and his wife Claire live in Washington, D.C., and have four children. Tom and his family enjoy outdoor sports, including skiing and golf, as well as international travel.
