555th Meeting Featuring Steven Malanga

December 6, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Steven Malanga is the George M. Yeager Fellow at the Manhattan Institute and City Journal’s senior editor. He writes about the intersection of urban economies, business communities, and public policy and is the author of several books including The New New Left: How American Politics Works Today (2005) and The Immigration Solution (2007), coauthored with Heather Mac Donald and Victor Davis Hanson. In 2013, former Florida governor Jeb Bush called Malanga “the best thinker on state and local fiscal matters”; in a 2014 Manhattan Institute speech, he said that Malanga’s warnings on states’ coming debt and pension crises had influenced fiscal reforms undertaken in Florida. Malanga has written more than 50 pieces for the opinion pages of the Wall Street Journal, largely about state and local issues including fiscal matters and economic development. He’s also written for the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, New York Daily News, New York Post, Bloomberg, and Investors Business Daily. During 2007–13, he was a regular columnist for RealClearMarkets.
