Jeff Greene, born in 1954 in Worcester, Massachusetts, was raised by parents who instilled strong economic values, shaping his future in real estate and business. After graduating from Doherty High School in 1972, Greene attended Johns Hopkins University, funding his education through various jobs, including working as a busboy and a religious school teacher. He earned his BA in economics and sociology in just two and a half years before working as a circus promoter, saving enough to launch a successful real estate career. He later attended Harvard Business School, earning an MBA in 1979.

While studying at Harvard, Greene began investing in residential real estate, quickly accumulating 18 properties and a net worth exceeding $1 million by graduation. After moving to Los Angeles, he navigated the volatile real estate market in the 80s and 90s. By 2006, he had amassed a $1 billion real estate portfolio. Anticipating a collapse in the market, Greene hedged his investments by shorting subprime mortgage-backed securities, which became one of the most successful trades in Wall Street history.

Now residing in Florida, Greene ran for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate in 2010, though he was unsuccessful. He manages a diverse portfolio of investments in real estate, hospitality, and energy, while actively supporting philanthropic causes. Greene is also a signatory of the Buffet-Gates Giving Pledge.
